Educator Preparation 1
- Course Description: This course is designed to prepare students for a career in education, spanning from early childhood through 12th grade. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of foundational topics including: instructional strategies, assessment methods, lesson planning, classroom management, and the various stages of child development--cognitive, physical, and social-emotional. Additional areas of focus include program development, working with special populations and diverse learners, building strategic partnerships, health, safety and wellness, ethics and professional growth, cultural competency, and professional practices. Students will engage in work-based learning experiences and participate in clinical placements within schools across the district, gaining hands-on experience with real classroom environments. Those who successfully complete this course may advance to an advanced course during their senior year, with opportunities to earn college credits or professional credentials.

Educator Preparation 2
- Course Description: This second year course expands on the foundational knowledge gained in Year 1, with a focus on advanced concepts in child development, learning theories, and effective educational practices. Students will participate in hands-on teaching internships within Livonia Public Schools, placed in classrooms that align with their preferred age group or developmental stage. Students interested in earning their Child Development Associated (CDA) or MI-YDA credential can continue working towards certification as part of this course. After completion of 2 years of the program, college credit can be awarded.
