907 - Network Administration/Computer Technician

1.0 credit/semester

Semester I:
This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills required to pass the A+ exam and become a certified computer service technician. A+ certification is recognized nation-wide and is a hiring criteria used by companies such as AT&T, IBM, Lotus, Microsoft, and Digital. Therefore, becoming A+ certified will enhance student job opportunities and career advancement potential. This exam is paid for by the student.

Semester II:
Open to all students that successfully complete semester I. This two-hour block course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform competently in the role of network administrator. Vendor-neutral coverage helps students develop a solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts. The overall objective of this course is to prepare the student to pass the Network + certification exam. This exam is paid for by the student.

Prerequisite: An understanding of personal computers, operating systems and Networking technology, Working knowledge of Windows 95/98/2000/XP.
