This is a one-year, two-hour block program offered at the Livonia Career Technical Center. The anatomy and physiology component of the course will cover the ten body systems that compose the human body. It will then introduce the student to a number of health careers including an in-depth look at the health careers of Physical Therapy (PT),Occupational Therapy (OT), and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). An overview will also be given in the areas of Dental Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, Radiology Technician, Respiratory Therapy, Ultrasound Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and various career opportunities available in the field of nursing.

Medical law and ethics, OSHA safety standards, universal precautions, and medical terminology will also be taught throughout the course. Emergency first aid and CPR skills are taught as an integral part of the program. Second semester,students who qualify will be given an opportunity to participate in a 15-hour, hands-on internship in their individual area of interest at a local health care facility.
