936 - Automotive Technology 1
grade level: 11-12
1 credit/semester 

This is a one-year, NATEF certified course offered at the Livonia Career Technical Center. This course is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as an automotive technician. This will be done by the student performing the tasks associated with the auto-servicing field. Included are the disassembly, inspection, diagnostic testing, repair and reassembly of specific components of the automotive engine, and chassis. Emphasis will be placed on the successful completion of the NATEF task list for the automotive braking system and the automotive electrical system. 

The students will also be exposed to an assortment of additional training opportunities available to them at a post secondary level. 

Prerequisite: none; recommended Introduction to Auto Mechanics


937 - Automotive Technology 2
grade level: 11-12
1 credit/semester 

This is a one-year, NATEF certified course offered at the Livonia Career Technical Center. This course is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as an automotive technician. This will be done by the student performing the tasks associated with the auto-servicing field. Included are the disassembly, inspection, diagnostic testing, repair and reassembly of specific components of the automotive chassis and the automotive computer system. Emphasis will be placed on the successful completion of the NATEF task list for the automotive alignment, steering and suspension and automotive engine performance. 

The students will also be exposed to an assortment of additional training opportunities available to them at a post secondary level. 

Prerequisite: 936 Auto Technology 1, completion of competencies
